Metabolic Health &
Weight Loss

HEAL YOUR METABOLISM
Tenacity Health is a functional medicine clinic focused on optimizing metabolic health - not a medication sales company.

Unlike many high-volume telemedicine or strip-mall-type weight loss programs that primarily provide a prescription with minimal personalization, our approach focuses on the root causes of weight-loss resistance: insulin resistance, poor sleep, hormone imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, gut imbalances, inflammation, and stress physiology.

When weight loss is pursued without addressing these underlying drivers, patients often experience plateaus, side effects, loss of muscle mass, rapid aging, and weight regain. Our goal is long-term success: sustainable fat loss, preserved or improved muscle, improved metabolic markers, and lasting lifestyle change.

In order for your body to release weight AND maintain that weight loss, we have to address more than calories and willpower. Sustainable fat loss requires optimizing the systems that drive metabolism: thyroid function, adrenal/stress physiology, sex hormones, inflammation, gut health, sleep quality, chronic pain, micronutrient status, and (most importantly) muscle.

When appropriate, we also use powerful metabolic medications such as GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP therapies (examples: semaglutide and tirzepatide) as one tool to support fat loss, improve insulin sensitivity, and restore metabolic health.

Our dosing strategy is intentionally conservative: we aim for the minimum effective dose (including microdosing when appropriate). This helps patients achieve results with less medication, fewer side effects, lower risk, and often lower total cost over time. Many high-volume weight loss programs focus primarily on medication access with minimal personalization. The result is often rapid weight loss at the expense of muscle, followed by plateaus and rebound weight gain. At Tenacity, we protect your metabolism by prioritizing muscle preservation and long-term success.

A frustrating reality is that most people who lose weight regain it over time. This is rarely due to a lack of effort - it is most often due to metabolic dysfunction. This is where Tenacity Health comes in.

What is a "busted metabolism"?
Most of the time, we are referring to insulin resistance (also called metabolic syndrome). Insulin resistance is now at epidemic levels in the United States and is one of the main reasons people experience unexplained weight gain, weight loss resistance, inflammation, fatigue, and cravings. Over time, insulin resistance increases the risk of serious chronic disease, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, dementia, and certain cancers.
At Tenacity Health, we evaluate metabolic health using objective data, including fasting insulin, fasting glucose, hemoglobin A1C, and body composition. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can also be a powerful tool to help you understand how your body responds to specific foods, stress, sleep, and exercise.

Our metabolic optimization approach may include:
-
Strength training and muscle-building strategies
-
Personalized nutrition guidance
-
Sleep optimization
-
Hormone optimization when appropriate
-
Micronutrient support
-
Targeted metabolic therapies and prescription medications when clinically indicated
Metabolic therapies we may use (when appropriate) include:
-
GLP-1 therapies such as semaglutide (brand names include Ozempic and Wegovy)
-
GLP-1/GIP therapies such as tirzepatide (brand names include Mounjaro and Zepbound)
-
Select supportive nutraceuticals and metabolic agents based on your needs and lab trends
-
NAD+, tesofensine, MICC, Lipo-C, GAC, sermorelin, CJC/ipamorelin, LDN and more.

Clinical research shows that GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP therapies (such as semaglutide and tirzepatide) can lead to significant fat loss for many patients, especially when paired with lifestyle optimization and strength training. Individual results vary, but many patients see meaningful weekly progress over time.

In addition to supporting metabolic health and appetite regulation, these therapies may also reduce inflammation and improve cardiometabolic risk factors. Ongoing research suggests potential benefits in other conditions as well, including cardiovascular disease, fatty liver disease, PCOS, kidney disease, and certain inflammatory conditions.
